    Presentation:

    Additional recommendations and information included:

    1. Once contractors are selected, monitor their work. Anytime modifications are required, get a project team together and take care of the changes.
    2. Plan for a delay of approximately four weeks. Start the process early and plan ahead.
    3. If you construct your building to the platinum level, certification fees will be refunded.
    4. HUD and HIS monies were used for this project. HUD funded the shell of the building and IHS funded outfitting the facility.

    Questions and Comments:

    1. Did you do a total lifecycle cost evaluation?
      - No, the plan up front was to build a LEED building.
    2. Was there resistance from HUD for financing this?
      - No, they ready accepted the project.
    3. Once certified, do you have to be a part of the certification process for something else?
      - No, specific groups do the certifications.
    4. Have you calculated a payback period?
      - It is uncertain as to whether the calculations have been done.
    5. Did you install solar tiles?
      - No, that was not in the plan from the beginning. Solar hot water heating gives a better return on investment (3-4 years).
