NPPR Tribal P2 Workgroup Meetings
The NPPR Tribal P2 Workgroup meets by conference call the third Tuesday of every month at 2pm Eastern, 1pm Central, Noon Mountain and 11am Pacific. Notices of conference calls are sent to Tribal P2 listserv participants. Contact tribalp2@montana.edu for information about the next call, or go back to the home page and click the link to sign up for the email list.
The NPPR Tribal P2 Workgroup will meet at the 2008 Environmental Summit in Baltimore May 21 at 10am. Contact Sara Johnson (Sara.Johnson@des.nh.gov) for information, or go to http://www.environmentalsummit.org/ to register to attend the Summit.
In addition, the Workgroup will meet in conjunction with the National Tribal Conference on Environmental Management - June 24-26 2008 in Billings, Montana. Contact Elizabeth Bird (ebird@montana.edu) for more information.

Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals (ITEP) Training and Workshops - ongoing
ITEP's goal is to assist in the professional development and exchange of information for tribal staff in order to enhance the operations and performance outcomes of environmental management.
Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency for Tribal Community and Project Development - 2008
This unique course will help Tribal leaders and staff understand the range of energy efficiency and renewable energy opportunities that exist within your communities. The course will focus on 1) determining community energy values and objectives, 2) developing the outline of a Tribal strategic energy plan, 3) exploring how energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies can be used to help meet Tribal objectives, and 4) organizing for Tribal community success.

National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) in Indian Country Workshop - May 21-22 2008, Denver, CO
This Workshop will provide practical instruction and assistance to inform tribal decision-makers on: the requirements and latest developments in NEPA compliance and litigation; the role of tribal, federal and state regulators in the NEPA process; and strategies to identify and protect tribal interests that may be affected by proposed federal action.
HUD ONAP Greener Homes - 2008
This informational workshop focuses on home energy efficiency and comfort, as well as indoor air quality, renewable energy resources, and mold and moisture prevention. The workshop also features hands-on demonstrations of energy efficiency products.

DOE's Tribal Energy Program Student Internships Available - DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 22, 2008
DOE's Tribal Energy Program is offering summer internships to Native American students who are interested in renewable energy and who are currently college upper-classmen or graduate students. To be considered for the 2008 summer program applications must be received by February 22, 2008.

National Tribal Conference on Environmental Management - June 24-26 2008 - Billings, MT
The Eighth National Tribal Conference on Environmental Management (NTCEM) will be held in Billings, MT, June 24th through June 26th, 2008. This major event includes a wide variety of session topics and provides training opportunities that benefit human health and protect the environment in Indian country. The 8th NTCEM is being co-sponsored by EPA and the Montana/Wyoming Tribal Leaders Council.
National Tribal Forum conference on Air Quality - June 3-5 2008 - Las Vegas, NV
The joint meeting is a gathering of tribal environmental professionals concerned about air quality in Indian Country. Agenda will include: Discussion of EPA's air quality budget, how it works and what tribes can do to make a positive impact; Trends in national air quality and public health impacts; The latest on climate change and what tribes are doing to address this critical issue; Mercury monitoring; Tribal new source review rule; Indoor air quality; Wood stoves change out program; Student internships; and much much more.
Leading Cooperative Efforts: Skills for Survival and Success - June 2008
This one day workshop offers skills and tools to effectively manage and participate in a variety of cooperative efforts. Networks, coalitions, and other cooperative efforts reequire distinct leadership skills if they are to be effective. Working together collaboratively is a challenge and this workshop will encompass leadership skills if they are to be effective.

FINANCING WIND POWER: THE FUTURE OF ENERGY - May 7-9 2008 - Scottsdale, AZ
This three-day conference will focus on: 1) current debt and tax credit equity structures for wind financing; 2) providing a solid understanding of how deals come together; 3) up-to-date information on pending legislation and current federal and state policies for wind energy; 4) techniques for minimizing permitting, zoning, environmental, and other regulatory roadblocks; 5) best practices for financing, warranties, and debt and tax structuring, including addressing investor concerns; 6)special issues and tactics for locally owned, locally beneficial community wind projects; and 7) methods for raising capital to fuel wind energy companies.

Region 10 Tribal Leaders Summit - April 21-24 2008 - Shelton, WA
The Squaxin Island Tribe, in partnership with EPA Region 10, invites Tribal Leaders from Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington to come together for the next Tribal Leaders Summit. Dialog will focus on emerging priority policy and strategic planning issues.
Alaska Strategic Energy Planning Meeting - April 21-23 2008 - Anchorage, AK
DOE's Tribal Energy Program is please to be sponsoring this strategic energy planning session. This meeting will begin the dialog needed to transform the energy dependence in rural Alaska from diesel fuel and heating oil to indigenous renewable energy resources to meet the future heat and power needs of Alaska Native villages.
This State-wide meeting in Anchorage will initiate efforts to develop Regional Energy Transformation Plans tailored to the renewable energy resources dominant in each region through consultation with Alaska Natives and other stakeholders. The focus of this initial meeting will be to develop: 1) the steps necessary to develop an effective Regional Strategic Energy Plan; 2) basic renewable energy options to be considered; and 3) Action Plan Steps that need to be taken to develop Regional Energy Plans.
DOE's Tribal Energy Program Review - November 5-8 2007, Denver CO
This annual program review is intended as a forum for tribes to meet and learn from other tribes pursuing energy sufficiency through conservation or renewable energy, and share in their successes. As we recognize the increasing interest of tribes in energy efficiency and renewable energy and the benefit of tribes learning from tribes, we're opening up this meeting to Indian Country as a whole. This is a unique forum where you can get an excellent overview of the wide range of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects under way in Indian Country.
No registration fee is being charged, yet registration is required to ensure adequate seating and food planning. Lunch provided Tuesday through Thursday. CERT's Indian Energy Solutions Conference - November 29-30 2007, Temecula, CA
